Post Lockdown is time for a good clear out

Instead, take unwanted clothes, small items etc. to charity shops – to help someone else.  Cancer charities such as Marie Curie, Cancer Research UK etc. have shops in most major towns, plus disabled charities such as Scope (who help cancer survivors).

However, it is best to phone and ask if they can currently accept donations, as some charities have been overwhelmed. A recent post on Facebook mentioned Give and Make-up – slightly used make-up we will never wear to hand out to abused women. But they have been so overwhelmed that they can’t accept anything at the moment.

What these shops look for

  • Men’s, women’s and children’s clothing
  • Accessories including shoes, belts, handbags and jewellery
  • Quality homeware – anything from cushions to crockery
  • Linens
  • Books, CDs and DVDs
  • Mobile phones and used printer cartridges
  • Electricals (but please check with your local shop before you donate these)

Google your favourite charity, enter shop in the Search window, and up will pop details of if and where they have a shop local to you – and how to find it.  Plus the all-important phone number to check if they can currently accept goods.

So get clearing out for a good purpose!
